The name of this traditional operation shifted to the
center of attention at the latest when RICHARD
ZAHEL was named “Viennese
Vintner of the Year” in 2000. Zahel gathers
his inspiration from the tension
of opposites. In the vineyard, he works close
to nature, but in the cellar he relies on the most modern
vinification methods. He rebuilt the entire production
site and equipped it with state of the art technology
to guarantee the best possible handling of the grapes.
All the same, Zahel is committed to the tradition of
the old family business, although he surprises us again
and again with new innovations. His vineyards are divided
among two locations: two-thirds in Mauer
and one-third on Nussberg
Zahel meanwhile supplies wine enthusiasts around the
world: from the U.S. and Canada to Japan and the Philippines.
